لایق جونپوری کی مثنوی سادہ پُرکار: بیدل کی تصنیف ہونے کی تردید
Abstract
This article aims at providing credible details about the real author of Persian mathnavi Sada-o Purkar. This article quoted many couplets from the work evidencing to prove that work is authored by Laiq Jonpuri instead of Abdul Qadir Bedil. The poet was alive when Aurangzaib Aalmgir reigned. Aurangzaib was then seventy-year-old and the peot prayed for him to live until one hundred twenty years. There had been many poets whose pen name was Laiq. But, Laiq Jonpuri was the poet who composed the work. The work dealing with subjects ranging from ethics and Sufism (taswwuf). It also mentions multiple reasons for misconceptions leading to it. The manuscript preserved in Tonk, India has the name of Abdul Qadir Bedil as its author in the colophon (tarqima) of the work. This is a facsimile edition which was edited in 2011 by Sahibzada Abdul Moeed Khan, Director, Rajhistan Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Arabic Persian Research Institute, Tonk, India. This article aims at highlighting over seventy excerpts, many names of personalities and places which the known Urdu work Tarikh-e Mashaikh-e Chisht (fifth volume) by Professor Khaliq Ahmed Nizami, has wrongly incorporated. It is reckoned to be one of the authenticated works of Chishti order. The article writer mentioned that he read the work times and again. In the beginning, the article shared details about the publishers produced this work since it came into printing. Among those are Oxford University Press included. Apart from publishers dealing with Urdu books, OUP has a system in place to rectify such mistakes through review process before publishing any text but unfortunate to say that it also produced Tarikh-e Mshaikh-e Chisht with discrepancies. Abstract
Selflessness in teachers is becoming rare in our society where once these societies were replete with such teachers who had nothing to do with monetary gain. This article provides glimpses of those teachers who not produced people of strength but also their contributions set examples for others to follow. Abstract
This article aims at presenting life and works of Maulana Muhammed Akram Khan who lived a very active political and intellectual life. He pioneered journalism in Bangladesh in which the voices and issues of Muslims were presented. He also actively participated in Pakistan Movement. He had written Tafseer culminated in five volumes. This was the first full-length tafsir of the holy Quran in the Bangla Language in true sense. He also wrote Mustafa Cheerat, a biography of Hazrat Muhammed (pbuh). A social history of Bangladeshi people was written. He wanted to undertake the task for volumes but he died after completing one volume. He also disseminated the message of poet Allama Iqbal. He was himself a poet and Pakistan Nama was published in which his poetry was compiled. He knew languages like Urdu, Persian, Arabic, English and Sanskrit.Read More →

This article presents three unpublished letters of Maulana Syed Abul A’ala Maududu to Mirza Aziz Faizani Darapuri. Darapuri was a poet, prose writer and newspaper editor of many known news outlets reckoned to contribute their best. The article provides details of works by Darapuri. In its beginning, the article presents briefly the style of Maulana epistles. In one of his letters, Maulana shed light on using word aasar and proved it with credible sources. Maulana advising Darapuri to provide suitable title for his peotic collection. The letters show that the authors had concerns due to scanty supply of papers in market. Maulana offered solutions to deal with short supply of papers. This article presents unpublished letters of Maulana Syed Abul A’la Muadudi wrote to Chaudhary Ghulam Muhammad who was close companion of Maulana. Maulana and Chaudhary Muhammed Ali had friendly relations before Jamaat-e Islami came into being in 1941. Maulana did really his utmost for his cause for the Muslims of the subcontinent in his entire life. In letters, he also focused things for the cause. These letters are detailed because the matters discussed therein were close to Maulana’s heart. Abstract
The unpublished letters of Maulana Abul A’la Maududi, the founder of Jamaat-e Islami, are a treasure trove of information about his views on different matters. This article presents his four unpublished letters sent to a renowned orator, hakeem and editor Qari Ahmed Peeli Bheeti. In one of the letters, Maulana Maududi made clarification about the word Khuda and guided the sender that it did no harm in using the word in the sense of Allah as it is used in Urdu language in the same meaning. The views expressed in this regard by Maulana Maududi shows his linguistic approach as well. Qari Ahmed, under the able guidance of Maulana Abdul Hamid Badayuni, started to edit monthly Al-Islam. His grandfather Maulana Wasi Ahmed Muhaddis Surti was reckoned to be one of the prominent religious figures of the undivided India. The letters show that Maulana was unwell when the letters sent. Maulana could not find time to read the books sent him to study. Abstract
This article shares an index of books compiled by Dr Aloys Sprenger (1813-1892), the most prominent orientalist, before 1850, archived in the State Library of Berlin. In his thirteen years of his visit in the Subcontinent (1843-1856), he compiled indexes containing books and manuscripts of Arabic, Persian, Turkey and Urdu works. He was associated with the Royal Asiatic Society, London. During his association, he dug out works of Arabic, Persian and Turkey languages housed in many libraries of Europe. Historian Sir Henry Elliot invited him to compile a bibliography of works housed in Moti Mahal, Top Khana and Farah Bukhsh libraries of Lucknow. He compiled an index of 10,000 books based on the aforesaid libraries which culminated in eight volumes.Read More →

Abstract
This article aims at sharing guidelines, based on the holy Qura’n, for the importance of institutionalization as there is no other option. The chief cause of decline of Muslim societies has been ignoring of the transformation of the teachings of Qura’n into functioning epistemological, social, economic, political, intellectual, educational and cultural institutions as they were implemented by the Messenger Hazrat Muhammed (peace be upon him) in the societies of Makkah and Madinah. Quoting what Jamaluddin Afghani has seen the beginning of the inevitable process of intellectual and political modernization already starting under the western colonial powers, and suggested that i) the ulema should be trained in modern sciences; ii) state must be based on Law not on monarchy or dictatorship; iii) for the purpose of legislation all rational instruments (including ijtihad) and for any problem sources of legal injunctions available in all schools of fiqh should be used; and iv) Ulama are those who not only have knowledge but are also capable of changing peoples’ minds with that knowledge.Read More →
Maulana Rahmatullah Kairanvi: Turkish Facets of his Life and Work
Abstract
The article mainly deals with life and works of Maulana Rahmatullah Kairanvi whose erudite religious works were published in Arabic, Persian and Urdu and also translated into English, Turkish and other languages. There are papers in German and English by Christine Schirrmacher dealing with the Pfander-Kairanvi Agra debate of 1854 based on the material of her dissertation. Two exhaustive sources in Urdu also offering details dealing with the historical characters as well as the cultural milieu of the time. Rahmatullah Kairanvi also took up his pen against the missionary onslaught. Kairanvi wrote 18 books that were published from Delhi, Agra and Istanbul. Kairanvi’s books have been translated into several languages. Among his earlier works are the books Ibtal al-Taslis [The Refutation of the Trinity], written in 1854 but first published in Delhi in1875, and ‘Ijaz-i ‘Iswi [The miracle of Jesus] published in Agra in 1854. Iqbal’s Visions of Civilization, Modernity and Nationalism: Are his Ideas Relevant Today?
Abstract
This article presents the conception of Allama Iqbal about Democracy, Nationalism and Communism and he explained these are actually facets of the tyranny of imperialism as the spirit of freedom and the dignity of man are being trampled underfoot in a way to which not even the darkest period of human history presents a parallel. He believed that the Muslim community (Ummah) had the potential to be a model for the humanity, and he wanted Pakistan to take the initiative to revive the Ummah with the spirit of humanism. One of the early challenges that Pakistan encountered as a sovereign nation-state was the framing of a constitution that would ensure universal values of human dignity and equality as opposed to a narrow nationalistic loom. Pakistan has a great potential to become an alternative model for universal peace and prosperity by following Iqbal’s dream and by fulfilling Qur’anic guidance for good governance.
