Abstract

This article aims to highlight the careless editing work of a very popular Urdu text Baagh o Bahar based on the text of Jaipur. The writer of the article explains his bases in the beginning of the article to critique the texts. The editor has left many things unexplained. The editor should have mentioned that how he found the text. Its colophon mentions that it was written in Hansi in the time of the Company then Why the text is called from Jaipur? The text has neither the stamp of a library nor any sign of an institution where it was kept. It has no sign of a personal collection as well. Declining texts of Baagh o Bahar edited earlier on, the editor claims to give reason of his editing work as this was edited on a manuscript or hand-written text which is only way to avoid mistakes in the text.
