The work is all about Rekhti poets. Rekhti is one of the genres of Urdu poetry in the nineteenth century. It is one of the rare works of its kind as its shows much about a poet and the society. The work comprises twelve chapters showing the details of 87 poets. Most of them are the disciples of Ashoor. Highlighting the brief account of Nassakh’s works, it presents the seventh chapter of the work in which Nassakh explains theses seven known poets of the time: Ashoor, Jaan sahib, Khalil, Ishaaq, Rangeen, Makhlooq and Nisbat. It highlights that Jaan sahib had a little knowledge of the craft of poetry. He was actually reciting the poetry of his mentor Ashoor as he had a gift of appealing the audience through his style of reading poetry.Read More →
