Abstract
This article shares an index of books compiled by Dr Aloys Sprenger (1813-1892), the most prominent orientalist, before 1850, archived in the State Library of Berlin. In his thirteen years of his visit in the Subcontinent (1843-1856), he compiled indexes containing books and manuscripts of Arabic, Persian, Turkey and Urdu works. He was associated with the Royal Asiatic Society, London. During his association, he dug out works of Arabic, Persian and Turkey languages housed in many libraries of Europe. Historian Sir Henry Elliot invited him to compile a bibliography of works housed in Moti Mahal, Top Khana and Farah Bukhsh libraries of Lucknow.
